Drum Major Instructor

MR. Cameron Jones

Mr. Jones embarked on his musical odyssey as a bass drum player at Peabody Elementary School, contributing his beats to the school's majorette and drumline ensemble. His journey continued at Bellevue Middle School under the guidance of Mr. Cameron Ross, where he transitioned to playing the trumpet. Throughout his time at Bellevue, he skillfully balanced his roles, mastering both the tenor and bass drums and eventually ascending to the position of drumline captain, under the mentorship of Mr. Cameron Hill. His passion for music flourished even further during his tenure at Memphis Central High School, where Dr. Ollie Liddell and Mr. Roderick White Jr. played instrumental roles in shaping him into a well-rounded individual.

During his time at Central, Mr. Jones was captivated by the artistry of the J5 drum majors, igniting within him a desire to become one himself. In his senior year, he realized this dream by assuming the role of drum major for the Mighty Warrior band, marking a significant milestone in his musical journey.

Upon graduating from high school, Mr. Jones earned a full academic scholarship to Jackson State University, where he pursued a degree in Mathematics. On December 6, 2019, he proudly graduated with a remarkable GPA of 3.96. Following his graduation, he ventured into the realm of education, commencing his career as a Pre-Calculus teacher at Kingsbury High School.

However, his love for music remained steadfast, prompting his return to Central High School in 2022, where he took on the dual roles of Algebra II teacher and Drum Major Instructor for the Mighty Warrior Band. Despite the demands of his teaching schedule and band commitments, he dedicated himself to furthering his education, ultimately earning his Master of Art in Teaching in 2024. Through his unwavering dedication and multifaceted talents, Mr. Jones continues to inspire and enrich the lives of his students and fellow musicians alike.
